Overview
Position: Account Resolutions Rep. (Collector) – Full-Time
Department: Account Resolutions (Collections)
Scope: Under the direct supervision of the VP of Account Resolutions. Incumbent has daily contact with members, other financial institutions and businesses by telephone and written correspondence.
Reports To: VP of Account Resolutions
Supervises: None
Machine Skills: P.C. with windows environment, Copy Machine, 10 Key and Scanner.
Job Specifications: Must have highly developed communication skills, computer skills, ability to multi-task, ability to construct accurate and professional business letters, patience, and a great attitude; requires knowledge of procedures and legal limitations regarding collections; must tenacious and analytical. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Collection experience with a credit union or other financial institutions preferred. Must have valid driver’s licenses and dependable transportation.
Physical Requirements: Incumbent must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds. Job requires frequent viewing of computer screen, continual eye coordination and hand/wrist movement and finger manipulation. Must be able to sit for long periods of time as well as stoop, bend and reach overhead.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide enthusiastic, professional, and courteous service to GCFCU members and staff.
- Contact members by phone, mail and/or field collections to collect past due accounts until the account is brought current.
- Document collection system with detailed information on written and verbal contact with members.
- Screen calls and answer member inquiries on delinquent account.
- Verify information on collection system before initiating demand letters to members and co-applicants.
- Run credit reports and skip trace members who have changed residence or place of employment.
- Recommend closing of lines of credit to supervisor when appropriate.
- Freeze funds in member’s share or draft accounts when appropriate and complete monetary forms.
- Review work queue and recommend other actions to Supervisor.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, management, and department head staff and various agency personnel.
- Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
