Overview

The Kroc Accountant is responsible for accounting entries, functions, records, reporting and systems for the Grand Rapids Kroc Corps Community Center.

Responsibilities:
  • Accounting
    • Perform daily routines and month end procedures
    • Prepare daily journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
    • Reconcile daily cash sales and oversee deposits
    • Record and maintain all accounts payable and receivable
    • Oversee payroll process
    • Process employee expense reports, check requests and petty cash requests
    • Prepare and reconcile Sales and Use Tax entries and file tax returns
    • Reconcile bank statements and verify with General Ledger
    • Record and maintain fixed asset purchases, inventory and depreciation schedules
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements
    • Invest available cash balances according to TSA policies
    • Maintain cash balances to meet anticipated expenditures
    • Maintain the Chart of Accounts
    • Oversee invoicing and collections
    • Prepare adjusting entries for all closings
  • Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to GAAP and TSA policies
    • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits
    • Maintain records (digital and paper) according to TSA policies
  • Budget
    • Support annual budgeting process
    • Develop processes for efficient budgeting processes
    • Prepare monthly departmental budget variance reports
  • Systems/Processes
    • Operate accounting system mandated by TSA
    • Develop reporting systems for use by all levels of stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Accounting plus three years or more public or corporate accounting experience or some comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Competence in financial reporting and compliance with GAAP.
  • Experience in technical aspects of accounting and financial reporting, with the ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use automated accounting systems including capability to identify an issue and drill down and research related transactions for explanation.
  • Read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
