Department of Revenue is recruiting for multiple Bankruptcy Technician – Compliance Specialist 1 (CS1) position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Collections Division in the Administrative Services Unit. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within (or be willing to relocate to) the state of Oregon or one of its metropolitan areas.
What You Will Be Doing
Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.
  • Receive notification of bankruptcy. Analyze records for collection action of liabilities and enforce the automatic stay. Request release of garnishments and advanced collections (release of current license suspension, current field visits and etc) within the agency. Research for associated liabilities and pull accounts into bankruptcy. Assign non-bankruptcy debtor(s) and/or business(s) to the appropriate agent and recommend required action(s).
  • Notify U.S Trustee when there is a social security discrepancy to research and resolve.
  • Evaluate and compile records/documents (such as, but not limited to: Department of Employment, Department of Motor Vehicles, Fed Query, Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER)) of income and debtor (s) and/or business(s) situations, to determine compliance with state and federal tax laws of non-filed tax return(s) that warrants issuing an objection of confirmation and/or a request to file to be filed with the U.S Bankruptcy Court and trustee. Correspond with debtor and debtor’s attorney to obtain non filed returns for compliance resolution. Withdrawal of Objection to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, trustee and debtor(s) attorney when returns are received or determined not required.
  • Ensure protection of secured property and feasibility of plan by evaluation of schedules and proposed plan. Resolve secured status with debtor(s) attorney prior to the confirmation of plan. Refer case to Attorney General for legal action if necessary.

This Is What You Need To Qualify
Two years experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide eligibility or compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
Note: college-level course work may substitute for the experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year of experience
Some positions may require:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Public Administration or a related field.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
  • Ability to collaborate and make decisions in a team setting.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Skills to evaluate, compile records and obtain correct information to determine compliance and feasibility of a plan
  • Knowledge of Federal Bankruptcy Codes
