This position is located in the immunization area within the Bureau of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control
The registered nurse is assigned to data quality efforts with the Statewide Immunization Online Network (SIMON). This position is accountable for review of patient immunization records in SIMON and correction of the records, as applicable.
Generate from SIMON the report entitled “Patients with Possible Duplicate Vaccinations” to identify patients for review.
Reviews SIMON patient immunization records with vaccine duplication, and as appropriate, manually modifies data to correct record.
Conducts quality improvement measures with enrolled SIMON providers/ clinics to determine the root cause of data quality issues.
Provides provider education to address data quality needs, as applicable.
Participates in clinical team and IIS team meetings, as applicable.
Works in conjunction with nurse consultants in the division regarding complex immunization status clients.
Public Health Preparedness
Participates in agency/ division preparedness efforts.
Responds when activated for emergency response operations as outlined in the DHEC emergency plans, which may include staffing shelters, triage or other duties.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require a valid driver’s license. Also, some positions require certification in Basic Life Support and/or Basic/Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Two (2) years of nursing experience and familiarity with electronic health record systems, nursing informatics, vaccine administration and vaccine inventory management.
DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: All new employees who are healthcare providers with job-specific exposure risk are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
