Duties Description

The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned marketing professional. The Public Affairs Bureau carries out strategic communications and marketing for the state park system of 250 individual parks, historic sites, golf courses, trails, and marinas as well as the 750-mile Empire State Trail.

OPRHP is experiencing transformational change in capital investment, in programming offered to visitors, and in staffing. We are very proud that visitation again broke a record with more than 78 million visitors in 2021! The Director of Marketing will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing a broad range of marketing campaigns and initiatives intended to communicate and support OPRHP’s facilities, programs, events, and services. The Director of Marketing will also play a key role in preparing for an extensive marketing campaign revolving around OPRHP’s centennial. That’s right! The State Parks system as we know it will be 100 years old in 2024 (and we look GREAT for our age!).
