Overview

ACE is adding a capable, resourceful and detail oriented Estimator. You’ll join a rapidly growing environmental construction firm that self‐performs environmental projects in the Mid‐Atlantic region and beyond. You’ll work remotely and spend some time each month at our headquarters in Columbia working within our estimating team developing winning costs estimates that help fulfill the company’s vision.

This position requires great initiative, superb attention to detail and problem solving skills. This is an ideal position for someone who is looking to join a young, energetic and growing company. You will be given your own scope packages to lead and estimate on various water and wastewater infrastructure projects up and down the east coast. You will need a strong work ethic to complete the estimating assignments and help develop winning bid proposals. Last but not least, you will master your core responsibilities and assist other internal departments, producing great results to move your career and ACE forward!

On any given day, you’ll be collaborating with other ACE Estimators in our main office in Columbia, or remotely over Microsoft Teams to develop bidding strategies and cost estimates, both internally and externally with a variety of vendors and subcontractors. You will act as a go between for ACE and it’s various subcontractors and vendors, working to maintain excellent working relationships with everyone you contact to help achieve the best possible pricing for our clients.

This is a hybrid position and will require time in our main office in Columbia, MD, however the position can be largely fulfilled remotely.

Job Responsibilities:

· Attending pre-bid meetings

· Guiding ACE vendors and subcontractors through the bidding portal so they are able to obtain plans and specifications

· Indexing bid documents as necessary so all bidding documents are accessible via digital access

· Fully reviewing plans and specifications for the divisions assigned

· Developing detail takeoff estimates

· Developing scope of works

· Attending walkthrough meetings

· Sourcing vendors and subcontractors to beat prebid goals

· Providing completed estimates in a timely fashion

· Have full understanding of cost reports and labor reports

· Have the ability to utilize cost history in all estimates

· Have great understanding of opportunities and advantages with the bidding competition

Qualifications/skills

· Candidates should have 1-3 years previous experience as an Estimator or Project Engineer in the construction industry or similar field

· Demonstrate a solid understanding of estimating

· Exemplify a strong attention to detail

· Possess superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines

· Must have strong computer skills and exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other programs included in the Microsoft Office Suite

· Previous experience working with estimating software is strongly preferred

· Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

· Willingness to adapt and learn

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,581.00 – $78,758.00 per year
