The Financial Management Branch (FMB), within the CDPH Administration Division, is responsible for the preparation, analysis and management of the Department’s budget, maintenance of accounting records and financial data, and acts as the liaison with the Department of Finance (DOF), Legislative Analyst’s Office, Legislative Budget staff, and the federal government on budget and fiscal matters affecting the Department.

FMB is located in downtown Sacramento in the East End Complex across from the beautiful State Capitol Park and World Peace Rose Garden.

The Special Projects Unit (SPU) team at CDPH is growing rapidly and looking for highly driven, self-motivated, analytical thinkers. The incumbent will work directly with a variety of individuals including management, programs, accounting, budgets, information technology (IT), as well as supporting consultants and other staff within the Financial Management Branch (FMB).

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and enjoys working independently as well as part of a team. The candidate has an intermediate understanding of financial data, general best practices, exposure to financial systems/budgeting software, basic data transformation tools, an appetite for learning and strives for continuous improvement.

Other areas that this role may be asked to support include helping to roll out advanced technical tools, be a contributor to creating dashboards for the Department of Public Health, and high visibility reporting tools for the unit and the Department.
