Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor duties of assigned accounting technicians within the accounts payable section pertaining to the processing of invoices and inmate medical bills.
  • This includes entering data into computer Through CRT and SCEIS.
  • Verification and release of invoices to the SC comptroller general’s office for the issuance of vendor check.
  • Evaluate employee performance.
  • Participate in the selection and Training of new employees as well as cross training.
  • Communicate Verbally or in writing relating to any request for research Information needed by or from other SCDC departments and/or vendors.
  • Answer questions the comptroller general’s office has concerning accounts payable documents.
  • Authorize any rejections or additional Backup.
  • Responsible for the processing of IDT payments to prison Industries and serve as back up for all state agencies IDT payment.
  • Will set up new vendors in main frame for medical billing.
  • Produce and Monitor ZMRBR report concerning blocked invoices.
  • Will also provide backup for accounting technicians.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

The South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance or banking. A bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:(or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the division of state Human resources).

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year general accounting experience.
  • one (1) year supervisory experience;


  • An Associates degree.
  • Three (3) years general accounting experience.
  • One (1) supervisory experience;


  • A High School diploma.
  • Five (5) years General accounting experience.
  • One (1) year supervisory experience.
