Food Service Worker

HRCAP Head Start/Early Head Start

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Work as a member of a team in Early Child Development and Health Services. To assist with transporting or preparation and service of food to Head Start children as required by Head Start Performance Standards and USDA Guidelines.

COVID-19 NOTICE: Proof of receipt of the COVID-19 vaccination required. Proof of immunization must include a copy of documentation indicating the vaccines received.

SUPERVISOR: Nutrition Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Requires knowledge in their area of Food Service.

 Prefer experience in Food Service.
Must have High School education or GED.

 Must work towards Food Service Managers Certification.

 Applicant must complete a physical, TB Tine Test at time of employment thereafter as required.

 Must have reliable transportation and valid VA Drivers License.

 Must have a criminal record check at the time of employment.

DUTIES:

 Transports food to the Head Start Center as necessary to provide safe, sanitary and pleasant meals for Head Start children and staff. Heats up food in microwave, when necessary.

 Serves meals in a friendly manner.

 Assists the cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals.

 Washes dishes, silverware, pots and glasses daily according to State Health regulations of
Virginia.

 Cleans the kitchen and dining room floor as needed.

 Mops kitchen and dining room floor as needed.

 Uses spare time wisely to assist with educational activities in the classroom including Literacy activities.

 Cleans refrigerator once a week.

 Must report any menu changes prior to service for approval, by Nutrition Coordinator.

 Wears proper attire while in Head Start Service.

 Maintain professionalism at all times while in Head Start service.

 Attends staff meetings as needed.

 Assist as Bus Monitor as needed.

 Performs other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Coordinator

This position is 30 hours per week.
