Overview

The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is hiring for tomato and avocado ops seasonal state inspectors in the Homestead area. No experience needed. All training will be paid for. The applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED. Pay starts at $13 an hour. Please contact 305-986-0056 for further information and to be put on a list for call backs for a scheduled interview.

Hours and Days: Can work up to 5 days a week, will be required to work day & evening hours, and holidays. The packing houses dictate when work is performed. Hours will vary depending on when packing house is running. Pay rate is $13.00 per hour.

Job Duties: Must follow the rules of the packing houses. Will inspect produce against the US Grade standards and determine if the produce meets or fails to meet the standards. Will be required to drive to different packing houses to inspect produce.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand frequently on a daily basis
  • Bend and/or Stoop – occasionally
  • Lift up to 25-50 pounds frequently on a daily basis

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Must speak, read and write English to complete reports and communicate with employer, co-workers and patrons of the employer
  • Valid drivers license
