This position is responsible for overall team leadership, project planning, facilitation of community partnerships and facilitating the YMCA’s L.E.A.N. Family, Y-Transitions, Livestrong at the YMCA program, and other community health initiatives/partnerships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Engage stakeholders in the community and coordinate efforts to plan and implement community partnerships.
  • Provide leadership to overall community health initiatives and staff to ensure compliance with Y-USA, CDC and other partnership program outcomes.
  • Coordinate program delivery and implementation.
  • Represent the YMCA in the community, participating in public relations and promotional activities as needed to promote program sustainability.
  • Communicate to direct supervisor any suggestions, concerns, or incidents that may need follow-up.
  • Comply with all HIPAA requirements.
  • Adhere to all YMCA policies and guidelines.
  • Attend and maintain appropriate trainings and certifications as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Although college courses related to fitness and nutrition or a combination of related experience/certifications is acceptable. Knowledge of basic health, nutrition, and fitness is required.
  • HIPAA is required within 30 days (or as scheduled by YUSA) of employment start date.
  • Y-USA Healthy Heart Ambassador certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred certification through one of the following organizations as a Group Exercise Instructor or Personal Trainer (National Organizations including AFAA, ACE, ACSM, or YMCA).
  • Must be committed to and supportive of the Y mission with an emphasis on support to health seekers, those who struggle to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
  • Experience coaching adults one-on-one and in group settings and understanding components of behavioral changes.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with Listen First or motivational interviewing are highly encouraged.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
  • Walk, stand, kneel, and stoop
  • Maintain continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking
  • Must be able to lift, pull and move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications
EFFECT ON END RESULT:
  • Maintain effective communication and project reporting with local stakeholders.
  • Community Health Initiatives will make measurable progress, engage local steak holders and adhere to quality standards of CDC and Y-USA metrics.
  • Promote satisfaction of participants as evidenced through positive surveys and program evaluations.
  • Coach and lead program staff to achieve CDC quality standards for both DPP and BPSM programs.
  • Connect non-members to family center staff to support retention opportunities and sustainability of lifestyle changes.
BACKGROUND CHECKS
