Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director, IT Enterprise Infrastructure. Oversees design and implementation of cloud services such as Office 365, AWS, and related technologies. Oversees contract/consulting vendors supporting server ecosystem architecture and engineering. Provides forward-looking design and technology implementations, through the implementation of leading products and services to aid CNM with operations and educational endeavors. Assists the Director with the leadership of Server, virtualization, authentication, and cloud technology team. Leads the team that administers the daily operations, design, engineering, construction, installation, maintenance, and documentation of Central New Mexico Community College’s (CNM) field (all campus’s) server and virtualization infrastructure. Establishes and enforces quality control standards. Ensures proper change management, ITIL compliance, uptime and availability of services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represents the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department on all design, engineering, and implementation phases for new infrastructure and technology. Provides recommendations and feedback based on customer needs.
  • Prepares project bid specifications, obtains cost estimates, and develops project budgets and forecasts for all new technology acquisitions and implementations.
  • Maintains records of support contracts and agreements, ensures long-term supportability of current applications and infrastructure.
  • Provides hands-on support and oversees the team that monitors, troubleshoots, and supports the server ecosystem and infrastructure (storage, servers, virtualization, monitoring, patching, etc).
  • Provides hands-on support and oversees the implementation and maintenance of our monitoring system to ensure early detection of events, impacts, and outages.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements automated issue remediation through Vrealize Automation, Nagios, or other related technology.
  • Provides project management and guidance on backup strategies, retention policies to ensure proper retention based on data requirements.
  • Ensures customer requests are handled appropriately and within the related Service Level Agreements.
  • Supervises Network Infrastructure engineers, administrators, technicians, and specialists. Oversees, leads, and coordinates the activities of the Data Center Operations team to ensure proper workloads, morale, and team motivation.
  • Oversees the work of key enterprise technology vendors including managed services providers in server, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
  • Assigns tasks and participates in the evaluation of work performance.
  • Oversees project-related activities of contractors and vendors to ensure delivery of requirements and schedules.
  • Oversees change order management and project quality control.
  • Implements enterprise network monitoring, performance, and utilization platforms.
  • Participates in strategic planning related to CNM network, telecom/Internet, voice/telephony, and facilities technology.
  • Recruits, hires, and develops a growing team of IT Operational staff.
  • Ensures server availability, and capacity to maintain current operations while preparing for growth in services offered, technology provided.
  • Coordinates with networking, security, application development to ensure reliability, service delivery, and consistency in operations.
  • Oversees and manages virtualization, authentication, Windows, Linux, and Database Operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimums

  • Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of related experience in Information Technology, networking or enterprise architecture or engineering.

OR

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field, and nine (9) years of related experience in Information Technology, networking or enterprise architecture or engineering.

As a part of this positional hire, there will be two rounds of interview and a phone screening to determine best fit for the role.

Position is currently operating in a hybrid work model. Some onsite work is required.
