St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time Police Dispatcher who will be responsible for answering the DPS dispatch phone, emergency phones as well as multiple radios and will dispatch Police Officers and DPS Officers on calls for service. This position will utilize the emergency public address system as well as the text message notification system. The DPS Police Dispatcher will monitor panic, burglar and fire alarms, CCTV video equipment and maintains logs and information to prepare reports as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Answers all DPS telephones, determines urgency of calls, transfers or handles as needed. Frequently answers basic questions or gives directions to the general public.

Assists all walk in visitors, students, faculty and staff. Directs the person needing assistance to the correct person or makes the proper notifications. Uses phone voicemail system to retrieve messages, prioritizes messages, immediately dispatches assistance as needed or makes the proper notification to police and public safety personal as well as Maintenance, Grounds, and Housekeeping employees on urgent matters.

Monitors all alarms on campus including but not limited to: fire, burglary, panic, 911, etc.

Maintains confidentiality in regard to occurrences in the DPS police office.

Obtains vehicle registration information, driver’s license information and record checks from the Highway Patrol as directed by the Police Officers. Must be able to operate the ITI records management system and the MULES Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System.

Handles requests for SCC identification cards and parking permits for faculty, staff, and students.

Provides clerical support for the Department of Public Safety including but not limited to process invoices for payment, perform data entry of various reports, and coordinate large copy/mail demands.

Maintains parking violation and moving violation records and offense reports in the ITI records management system.

Receives, logs, stores and retrieves lost and found items. Make notification to the owner of the property when owner information is available.

Maintains detailed dispatch logs, key control logs and building usage logs and enter the information into the CAD or ITI records system as required.

Operates e2Campus emergency text message system, InformaCast emergency campus wide public address systems, operates and monitors Panasonic DVR and NVR video recording systems.

Issues campus keys to facilities employees each shift and vendors as needed. Issues campus keys to new employees.

Operates a radio system and monitor radio frequencies of other public safety agencies such as EMS, fire and police departments of surrounding areas as needed.

Keeps up to date crime records and crime logs and assists the Clery Compliance Officer as needed. Attend and complete training related to dispatching police, security and EMS staff.

Responds to calls for first aid and operate an AED as needed.

Provides safe escort, assistance and directions for students, faculty, and visitors.

Writes incident reports and be proficient in the use of the DPS records system.

Other duties assigned by the Director of Public Safety as needed.

A uniform is required.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Prefer prior dispatching or law enforcement agency experience.
