School Custodian

8 hours per day – 260 days per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Graduate

Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment

Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate to heavy physical strength

Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment

Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with Supervisor and co-workers

Must hold a valid Iowa Driver’s License and have the ability to obtain school bus driver endorsement within the first 12 months of employment.

REPORTS TO: Director, Building and Grounds

JOB GOAL: To keep the building and grounds clean and safe.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Observe all safety regulations and policies, and check to ensure that all work is performed in the safest manner possible.

Attend all required meetings and training opportunities in order to increase knowledge of new methods, procedures, and materials used in performance of assigned work.

Maintain a professional attitude and neat, well-groomed appearance at all times.

Performs all required tasks and, if necessary, work with associates to complete assignments.

Perform duties outside his/her normal routine in the event of emergency or disaster.

Arrange and adjust work schedules to meet daily requirements.

Keep records of time and materials used per job.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits to be determined by the Policies of the Board and as negotiated at date of hire based on prior experience and education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Buildings and Grounds in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
