Newaygo County Mental Health is seeking an individual to provide social work/case management services in partnership with the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office. This position will be located at the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office.

The Social Worker will provide short-term crisis intervention services in emergency situations, such as but not limited to: domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse, suicide, substance abuse, and any other cases involving trauma; and assistance with hospitalizing persons experiencing a mental health or substance use emergency. The employee will provide social service assistance to citizens of Newaygo County who are in crisis or in need and will act as a liaison between community members and various resources and community groups at the local, state, or federal levels.

This individual must be skilled, resourceful, energetic, and possess strong verbal/written communication skills, and proficient computer skills. Ability to work with frequent interruptions, as well as ability to prioritize and function independently are crucial. Substance use disorder treatment experience is highly desired. Experience in providing community-based crisis services is preferred. Candidates will need to have flexibility to work days, evenings and holidays.

NCMH will consider Bachelors of Social Work, Masters of Social Work, Masters of Arts in counseling or psychology, with appropriate state licensure (LLBSW, LBSW, LLMSW, LMSW, LLP, TLLP, LLPC, and LPC) and valid Michigan driver’s license. Salary range: $47,500 – $70,610; based on licensure and experience, with excellent benefits. Newaygo CMH is an approved National Health Service Corp (NHSC) loan repayment site.
