Overview

The Transfer Enrollment Specialist will work closely with faculty and staff in a variety of offices to develop and foster transfer opportunities for prospective and newly admitted students to TWU. The position will work successfully with Admissions, Financial Aid and Academic Advising staff in providing specialized support for all transfer practices, procedures and workshops. The position will successfully onboard new transfer students and help prospective students navigate through transfer resources. Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Associate Director, Admissions
Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES – May include, but not limited to the following:
  • Connects new transfer students to academic advising, and assist them with transitioning to TWU.
  • Increases the number of students applying for transfer admission by providing pre-application advising and transcript evaluation.
  • Works with the Director of Admissions and Executive Director of Financial Aid to coordinate transfer enrollment days.
  • Working directly with advisors, faculty and deans, reviews degree plans and transfer equivalencies.
  • Supports recruitment with the organization of transfer application workshops, college fairs, and campus presentations.
  • Markets upcoming transfer programs, services, workshops and events through various communication venues including social media.
  • Assists students with using the Transferology tool.
  • Contributes information and supports team efforts by accomplishing goals, monitoring competition and reactions from prospective students.
  • Reviews transfer applications, and post transfer credits as needed.
  • Provides information to students, faculty, staff and the public on university, Federal, and State procedures relating to the transfer process.
  • Assists the Assistant Director of Campus Visits and Events with transfer focused tours, presentations and campus visits.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with transfer institutions.
  • Researches current college, state, and national processes for successful student transfer.
  • Assists in revising and updating transfer practices and guides as needed.
  • Maintains up to date changes in state, federal, and college policies and procedures regarding student transfer.
  • Serves as the Admissions liaison to Academic Advising and provides updates to the staff.
  • Represents the university to the general public through scheduled presentations at the university, secondary schools, community/junior colleges, and college Fairs.
  • Participates in several evening and Saturday programs during the fall and spring.
  • Interviews and counsels prospective transfer students and families.
  • Responds to emails, mail, phone and/or in person situations that require admissions guidance and/or counseling.
  • Develops and gives audience-appropriate presentations to university visitors and prospective students.
  • Follows up with prospective students in completing their application and assists them as needed through matriculation.
  • Creates a database record for each student by entering information in the student information system from source documents.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community colleges, alumni, and other community programs which impact recruitment.
  • Communicates changes and revisions to state, federal, and university policies pertaining to student transfer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment. Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

Three years of experience advising or serving transfer students preferred. Experience with a CRM is preferred.
