POSITION SUMMARY: Proactively contribute to the overall direction of the credit union and effectively lead the Accounting department. Develop procedures and assure completion of accounting functions in accordance with standards established by the Credit Union senior management, Board of Directors, Federal Credit Union laws and regulations of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The VP is responsible to oversee and maintain General Ledgers (GLs) and account reconciliations. This position is a back up to other functions in the accounting department.

  • Hire, manage, and evaluate staff within the Accounting department
  • Help guide department by answering questions, providing solutions, reviewing work, ensuring proper procedures are followed, and corresponding with other departments about accounting related issues
  • Prepare financial statements, statistical reports, and other related reports as well as reports for various organizations, such as NCUA, Board of Directors, Excess Share Insurance, etc.
  • Prepare GL adjustments including accruals for month-end or quarter-end closings
  • Oversee the reconciliation of all GL accounts and perform reconciliations for all investment related accounts
  • Perform variance analysis of monthly financial data
  • Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and coordinates audits with internal audit firm and external year-end audit firms and others associated with audits
  • Supervise and approve payment of all invoices approved by managers and posting of all charges to the proper GL accounts
  • Participate in special projects and compile special reports; in addition, works closely with the Senior Accountant to ensure each project is properly documented including, but not limited to:
  • Project planning and tracking
  • Manage and create process documentation and training
  • Documenting and purposing costs
  • Oversee the operations and ongoing maintenance of all owned and leased Automatic Teller Machines (ATM)
  • Work with various vendors to ensure agreements are in place and perform an annual analysis of assigned vendors
  • Perform administrative duties on software and various banking systems
  • Oversee and supervise various processes including: wires, daily cash positions, and mortgage servicing
  • Act as a backup in the absence of the CFO/SVP of Finance


  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or related field
  • A minimum of five (5) or more years of related experience, accounting and supervisory; a viable combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Certified Public Accountant Certification (CPA) preferred
  • Up-to-date on all developments in the industry
  • General Ledger and Financial Statement experience required
  • Well-developed Excel skills and a working knowledge of financial and reporting systems
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as a collective whole in order to find solutions for complex issues
